Tidecastle in one paragraph

Your crabs live in a sandcastle and the tide is coming in. Drag sand from one spot to the spot next to it to build a wall. Every scoop moves one layer: the spot you dig gets lower and the spot you fill gets higher. A wave comes every few scoops and the water rises one level, flowing into everything lower than it that it can reach. Seal the castle off from the sea before high tide.

Common questions

How do I move sand?

Drag from a sandy spot to the spot beside it (up, down, left or right). Or tap a spot, then tap the spot beside it where the sand should go. You can only dig and fill dry sand.

What are the blue stripes?

They show where the water will reach at high tide with the sand as it is now, and the dashed line is where it will stop. While you aim a scoop they show what that scoop would change. When the stripes no longer reach the castle, the castle is sealed and the tide rolls in.

Why did the sea get in where I was digging?

Every scoop leaves a hole where it came from. Dig a spot beside the water and lower than it, and the water pours in at once. Sand from inside your wall, where the sea cannot reach, is safe to use.

What happens when the tide gets in?

You can start the beach again for free, as often as you like. Once per try you can also watch a short video to take back three scoops and get three more before each wave.

What does Undo do?

It puts your last scoop back. That costs a scoop too: the tide does not wait.

How do stars work?

Three stars for saving the castle in the fewest scoops possible, two for one more, one for any save.

What is Today’s Tide?

One new beach every day, the same for everyone, from level 6 onwards. Try as often as you like; your attempts are counted, and you can share your result without giving the answer away. Saving it every day grows your streak, and one missed day a week is forgiven automatically.

What is my shore?

Every beach you save leaves its castle, with its own name, standing on your shore.

Where is my progress saved?

On your device only. There is no account. Deleting the app deletes your progress.

Can I play offline?

Yes, everything. Only the optional videos need a connection; without one, the help is given for free.
